AMT-SYBEX is delighted to continue our patronage of the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) for the tenth year.

The IAM represents the values at the core of AMT-SYBEX; a professional body for those involved in the operation and care of physical assets – especially critical infrastructure. In particular, the Institute is for professionals worldwide who are dedicated to furthering their knowledge and understanding of Asset Management.

Today’s business environment demands a robust, adaptable and standards based system landscape to support strategic and operational needs. On 10th January, the publication of a new international standard, ISO 55000, for Asset Management was announced. Replacing PAS55 this international standard represents a consensus on what asset management is and what it can do to increase value generated by all organisations. It consists of three parts:

  • ISO 55000:2014 provides an overview of asset management, its principles and terminology, and the expected benefits from adopting asset management
  • ISO 55001:2014 specifies requirements for an asset management system within the context of the organisation, and
  • ISO 55002:2014 provides guidance for the application of an asset management system, in accordance with the requirements of ISO 55001.

The scope of the ISO is generally around but not limited to physical assets. The belief is that the approach to managing an asset to drive business value could equally apply to other types of assets such as business brands and public amenities.

At AMT-SYBEX we are fully aware of the significant challenges our clients face in managing, maintaining and investing in their critical business assets. Over 20 years, we have developed an enviable record of supporting leading organisations, including Network Rail, UK Power Networks, National Grid, Transport for London, and Electricity Northwest Limited, in increasing asset management efficiency through the successful delivery of Enterprise Asset Management, mobile and data solutions.
